Milestone 5, Amanda Hammack

This week I finished up the Twins' kart and started on Princess's kart. These two karts require a great deal of detail on the modeling level.

The twins' kart required some commitment. This kart needed to give off a feeling of fear and discomfort, to say the least. The skeletal frame and damaged body helped to give the kart an emaciated appearance. I added a temporary light to the scene to test the shadows and the results were very satisfactory.

The suckers for Princess's kart were easy to make when I found that I could use the relax tool to round out the frames. The tendril around the pearl may need to be tightened when I return to it next week.

I also went back to improve the quality of my previous kart models now that I have had a good bit of practice. It was mostly a matter of smoothing groups. This was necessary in order to keep the style of the karts consistent among one another. (The new karts are on the right and the old karts are on the left)

Over the spring break, I will finish up the kart models and test them out in Unity.

  1. What is the poly count on these models? They look good, but be careful about overdoing it.

    1. They're around 5000 - 7000 each with the exception of Snowball's kart, which is 27000.
