I spent the first week starting the Assets for the Hell Racers level.
Plants:
Two completed fern designs.
The first picture mostly followed a tutorial off youtube. I'll be tweaking it in a later milestone to make it more original.
The second was after acquiring the knowledge on how to make a fern in 3ds-max. The main difference being that I created entire new leaves for this fern.
Trees:
Two work-in-progress-trees.
The first tree is just going to be a standard tree of some sort after finding a nice texture for the leaves/branches.
The second tree is based on a pine build and actually took much longer then I thought it would to create. Pretty much the same story as the first tree.
Flowers:
One completed flower design.
When I was developing the flower, I used the same techniques used for the ferns to bend the petals and stem.
The second picture is just to show that the scaling works fine if the flower is duplicated. Usually the scaling would get all weird on the copy, and nothing would stick together. I actually think it came out pretty good. The stem might be a bit to thick though...
Street Lights:
Two completed light designs.
The first two pictures is a basic street light while the second is more of a lamp post. The second picture is just a close up of the upper portion of the street light.
The lower picture is actually a light similar to the design of the street-light right outside my house. For now, I find that the the first light turned out much better.
PROBLEMS:
The main thing I didn't get done this week that I wanted to complete with a few of the assets was texturing (including bush/tree branches) due to problems I have with Photoshop on my laptop. I'm pretty much going to be doing the asset textures on the Shady Grove computers from now on.
Future:
Along with perhaps creating another two or three assets, and tweaking the designs I have created already, texturing will most likely be my second milestone.
